The stars were out at the tenth anniversary of saucy New York nightclub The Box on Tuesday - but Trump adviser Elon Musk was trying not to shine too hard.

The Tesla CEO, who has resisted calls by protesters to step down from the president's advisory panel, joined actresses Lindsay Lohan and Susan Sarandon for the event.

But Musk stayed out of view of the cameras during the cabaret shindig, which included S&M-themed fire-eating, particularly when a member of Russian punk group Pussy Riot began shouting 'F**k Trump! F**k Putin!'

The singer - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, the only member of the band there that night - shouted the remarks to the cheers of the assembled crowd.

She make the chant during her performance of anti-Trump single 'Make America Great Again,' which was released in the run-up to the US election.

The singer performed two other songs before leaving the stage.

Musk, who has denounced Trump's immigration ban but says he remains on the president's team because 'engaging on critical issues' will 'serve the greater good,' wasn't spotted during the chant.

However, sources have confirmed that he was present at the night, which also included an S&M-themed fire-eating session, scantily clad acrobats and a singer dressed as the Devil.

Still, Musk was in good company, politically speaking, when it came to the crowd - thanks to the presence of tentative Trump supporters Sarandon and Lohan.

Lohan told DailyMail.com in an exclusive livestreamed interview that she wanted to sit down with Trump to 'get the word out' about the positive aspects of the Middle East, and 'broaden his ideas'.

'You have to join him,' she said on Friday. 'If you can't beat him, join him.'

She was spotted on Tuesday The Box in good spirits right next to the stage, with minimal makeup, bright pink lipstick, long, straight hair - and an unidentified male friend, and stayed to party all night.

Also in for the night was Susan Sarandon, a vehement Bernie Sanders supporter who said she'd rather vote Trump than Hillary in the election. The star - clad in a glamorous red dress - sat with her eyes glued to the stage all night, an insider said.

Other notable names at the event included it girl Zoe Kravitz, actor, Josh Lucas, Public School fashion designer Maxwell Osborne, artists Domingo Zapata, Damian Loeb and Curtis Kulig, Polish model Anja Rubik, and nightlife impresario Serge Becker.

Tolokonnikova, an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin, spent a year and a half in a Russian gulag-turned-prison after she and another Pussy Riot member were convicted of 'hooliganism.'

She was released in an amnesty on December 23, 2013, in what was widely seen as a PR stunt by Putin ahead of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
